Once you begin adding transactions, your financial dashboard will populate with charts and insights, giving you a clear view of your financial life.

Your Dashboard: The Big Picture

The dashboard is your financial command center, designed to give you a clear and immediate overview of your money. It is the first thing you will see and the best place to get a quick health check on your finances. Here’s what it shows:

  • Key Numbers: At the top, you will find big, easy-to-read cards for your total Income, Savings, and Expenses for the period you have selected (month or year). These cards also feature a percentage comparison to the previous period, so you can instantly see if you are earning more, saving more, or spending less.
  • Spending Habits: A dynamic line chart visualizes your daily expense flow, helping you spot spending spikes or trends over time. Interactive pie charts provide a colorful breakdown of your income sources and expense categories, showing you exactly where your money comes from and where it goes.
  • Account Balances: Tired of logging into multiple banking apps? The Account Balance box conveniently consolidates the real-time balances from all your connected accounts (bank accounts, e-wallets, etc.) in one simple list.
  • Budget Health: This is where your monthly budget planner comes to life. Colorful progress bars give you instant visual feedback on each budget category. A green bar means you are well within your limit, yellow is a friendly warning that you are getting close, and red indicates you have gone over budget.
  • Quick Actions: Need to make a quick change? The dashboard is interactive. You can edit or delete income records and adjust budget allocations directly from context menus, saving you time and clicks.

Budgeting: Your Spending Plan

A budget is simply a plan for your money. It is not about restricting yourself; it is about empowering yourself to spend intentionally. Monsy's budgeting app features are designed to make this process easy and even enjoyable.

  • Set Your Limits: In the Budgeting section, you become your own budget planner. For each of your expense categories, you can decide on a spending limit for the month. This proactive step is the key to managing your money effectively.
  • Track Your Progress in Real-Time: As you use the expense tracker to log your purchases, Monsy automatically deducts each one from its corresponding category budget. You can see your progress instantly on both the Dashboard and the Budgeting page, so you always know exactly where you stand.
  • Stay Flexible and Adapt: Life is unpredictable, and your budget should be able to adapt. If an unexpected expense comes up, or if you overspend in one area, you can easily go back and adjust your budget amounts for any category at any time.
  • Prioritize with Needs vs. Wants: To gain deeper insight into your spending, you can classify your expense categories as "Needs" (essential spending like rent, utilities, or groceries) or "Wants" (non-essential spending like dining out, hobbies, or entertainment). This simple but effective feature helps you analyze your spending patterns and ensure your money is truly going towards what matters most to you.

Transactions: The Full History

The Transactions page is your complete, detailed financial diary. It is the ultimate income and expense tracker, giving you a searchable, sortable record of every financial move you have logged in Monsy.

  • All in One Place: Think of this as your central ledger. Here you can see a chronological list of every income entry, expense, saving contribution, and transfer you have ever made, all in one clean interface.
  • Find Anything, Fast: Looking for that one specific payment you made last month? Use the powerful filters to search your entire history by a date range, a transaction type (like income or expense), or even by a specific account.
  • Fix Mistakes with Ease: We all make typos. If you realize you entered something incorrectly, you can easily find the transaction on this page and edit or delete it to ensure your financial records are always accurate.
  • Data Integrity and Safety: To prevent you from accidentally deleting important financial history, Monsy has a built-in safeguard. You cannot delete an account (like a bank account or credit card) if it still has transactions linked to it. You will need to either delete those transactions first or reassign them to a different account.

Expense Tracking: Know Where Your Money Goes

Truly understanding your spending habits is the first and most crucial step to taking control of your financial life. Monsy is designed to be the simple, effective spending tracker you need to build this awareness.

  • Log Everything, Big or Small: From your daily coffee to your monthly rent, make it a habit to record every expense on the Add Expense page. The more consistently you track, the clearer and more accurate your financial picture will become.
  • Capture the Details: A good record is a detailed one. Each expense log includes the date, the exact amount, the category it belongs to, and the account you paid from. You can also add a description (like "Lunch with Sarah" or "New running shoes") so you will always remember the specifics of each purchase.
  • Discover Your Habits: As you add expenses, the charts on your financial dashboard will automatically update. This visual feedback is incredibly powerful, showing you at a glance which categories are taking up the biggest portion of your money and helping you identify areas where you might be able to cut back.

Transfers: Moving Money Around

The Transfer feature is a special tool specifically for logging the movement of money between your own accounts. It is important to use this correctly to keep your account balances accurate.

  • When to Use It: A transfer is not income or an expense, it is just you moving your own money from one pocket to another. Use it for things like: moving cash from your checking account to your savings account, topping up your e-wallet from your bank, or moving funds from a savings account into an investment account.
  • How It Works: It is simple and intuitive. You choose the account the money is coming from (the source) and the account it is going to (the destination). Monsy automatically updates the balances for you, decreasing the source account and increasing the destination account by the same amount.
  • Smart Validation: To prevent errors and overdrafts, the app checks in real-time to make sure you have enough funds in the source account before allowing you to complete the transfer.

Assets & Net Worth: Your Financial Health

While daily expenses are important, your long-term financial health is determined by your assets. Assets are the things you own that have financial value, and Monsy acts as your personal wealth tracker to help you see the bigger picture.

  • What are Assets?: In Monsy, this includes your cash, the balances in your bank accounts and e-wallets, your investments (like stocks), and any other valuable items you want to include in your financial snapshot.
  • Manage All Your Accounts: The Accounts page is your central hub for adding, editing, or deleting all of your financial accounts.
  • The Ultimate Metric: Net Worth: Your net worth is the total value of all your assets minus any liabilities (debts) you have. Monsy functions as a powerful net worth tracker, calculating this crucial number for you automatically on the Assets page. Watching this number grow over time is one of the most rewarding parts of managing your money well and a true indicator of your financial progress.

Stock Tracking: Watch Your Investments Grow

For those who invest in the stock market, Monsy includes a simple yet powerful investment tracker, allowing you to monitor your stock portfolio right alongside your daily finances for a complete financial overview.

  • Add Your Stocks from Global Markets: From the Assets page, you can add stock holdings from both the Indonesian (IDX) and US (NASDAQ/NYSE) markets.
  • Record Your Purchases with Detail: When you add a new stock holding, you will log the ticker symbol, the number of shares you purchased, and the exact price you paid per share. This historical data is key to tracking performance.
  • See Your Performance at a Glance: Monsy fetches real-time market data to track the current value of your stocks. It then compares this to your original buying price, showing you your total potential profit or loss for each holding and for your portfolio as a whole.
  • Seamless Currency Conversion: Do not worry about manual currency conversions. If you own US stocks but your main currency is IDR, for example, their value is automatically converted to your primary currency to be included accurately in your total net worth calculation.
